It would be great if you could add a customer number or customer reference box for the customers.
I.e when you edit a customer there would be a box saying Customer Number : ________
It would be even better if that were searchable as well.
Any large scale organisation uses a reference or number so I can't imagine we'd be alone in finding this useful.
Don't know if any of the plans don't allow this, but we easily added a Customer Account number from the admin screen.
Admin --> General Settings --> Customer Fields. I just drug a single line Text field down, labeled and was all setup.
Searching I don't see any way to do.
Never even noticed I could do that! Done.
We do provide external ID option for contacts - https://support.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/226804-identifying-contacts-with-an-external-id .
