Freshdesk-initiated SSO login and returning to original page

If the user browses directly to an article on my portal that requires login, but they are not logged in, they get redirected to my login URL. As far as I can tell, there is no way for me to see which article they wanted to read, which means they are sent back to the portal home page, which is not as good as returning directly to the URL they wanted to view. Is there anything I can do about this? If not, I'd like to request that feature be added.
I know the Simple SSO has a redirect_to parameter, but this doesn't help if I don't know where to send them (which URL they were trying to view.) As far as I can tell neither Simple SSO nor SAML have access to that, and I don't know a way to redirect after SAML even if I did know.
Also, it seems to work as I would like (redirect to Freshdesk login page, then back to article) if SSO is not enabled, so it seems to be related to SSO not just login in general.
I agree, this functionality needs added asap - It's extremely frustrating for the user.
Surely the original page that was requested can be passed to the SSO logon page and then that used for the return URL??

Did you get anywhere with this?
We also have this issue when a customer click on an attachment download link. They are taken to the URL to download the file but as they are not logged in, they are redirected to SSO then returned to the portal homepage.
The same happens when we link to an article.
This is becoming a massive problem for us however it could easily be solved if the original request URL was passed to the SSO logon page so we can return the user back to that page once logged on.

We also would find this feature useful, as would being able to pass any custom URL querystring variables back to the SSO page if a user is not signed in.

Apologies for the delay. Regarding your query, if we have got this right, so when a user who has not logged in, clicks on a article link, they should be authenticated through the SSO and has to be taken to the solution article? This is called as deep linking and yes, this is the default behaviour.
But however, if the customer clicks on a link that has a vanity URL or a custom URL and if the redirection has been hard-coded to the default URL or vice versa, that would be when this could occur.
I hope that explains the behaviour. If you are still having any issues/queries feel free to write us at email@example.com and we'd be happy to assist you on the same. Have a good day!
