They normally appear as a "Sent Mail" but are viewable in your tickets menu.By default their status is closed though.
Are you using a view like "my open tickets" so that maybe their not visible?

Are you trying to send the email using the "New email" option. If yes, as mentioned by @Anthony, the ticket by default would be in "Closed" status. You can view the ticket by filtering it based on the status "Closed". If your requirement is different, please feel free to drop in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
